Housing Assistance which placed him into a hotel temporarily. He was also duel-enrolled in the HVRP program in hopes of attaining training toward gainful employment.

Since coming to VSC, he has enrolled in VA medical coverage, enabling him to attain a Primary Care Physician, and has been placed in sustainable housing in an apartment. This apartment was then completely furnished by Military Missions In Action, Veterans Bridge Home, and Veterans Services of the Carolinas.

Alquan completed job training and accepted an employment offer for a security officer position, and Military Missions in Action donated a car so that he could have transportation to and from work!

Right after beginning his security officer job, Alquan suffered knee damage. The VA medical coverage paid off as he required surgery and a cast. Alquan will be able to keep his new job as he recovers for 6-8 weeks, but for now he is resting comfortably in his new furniture and he has a kitchen full of groceries, donated by the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

Alquan's journey through our various programs is a prime example of how we continue to collaborate with other community providers to make sure that our Veterans are completely supported.

Patrick Williams is an Army Vet that first enrolled in HVRP in March 2021. He is currently enrolled in the CWT Program through the VA. One of his goals was to take Peer Support training because his calling is to help others in his same situation. He quickly enrolled in a Peer Support Specialist course and completed the training by the end of the month.

Because of his hard work through the CWT program, he was offered a full time job in housekeeping at the VA in Salisbury, NC. This enabled him to finally acquire his own housing by the end of April 2021 after being homeless for over six months. Mr. Williams continues to work hard to improve his life and is an inspiration to us all. Way to keep pushing!

My name is Robert Fuller, I am a veteran of the US Army and was honorably discharged in October of 1986. I am happily married with 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Three of our children still reside at home, which gives us a five-member household. Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, our situation was very stable, however, once the pandemic occurred, the stability that we enjoyed for so many years began to unravel.
